We put the foundation of the contents at the forefront of the design as the cover art. It is an unorthodox approach to make the book stand out to the reader and have greater self impact. A monotone palette and signature typefaces leave only the most important elements on display.

To enhance the reading experience illustrations were created and added to the text. The illustrations plain a main role in the division of the chapters and assist in making the instructions easier to understand for the reader.

The last few pages of the book are designed for note taking with tear-out heavy paper selected specifically so the person reading through can keep notes of their recipes or adjustments and keep them handy on their coffee station.

This brewing guide proposes a multi-step approach to influencing flavour that can be the foundation on which people quickly, accurately and effectively optimise their coffees when brewing as espresso or as filter.

The design is heavily inspired by Assembly’s typographic approach and modern minimalism while keeping a clean utilitarian look and feel.
